YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Stars 12-U softball team is set to head off to compete in nationals competition.
Up to now, the Stars have competed in more than 50 games from December of last year (winning 90 percent of those games). They also finished in 3rd in the last two major tournaments; that has allowed them to qualify for their trip to West Covina, California.
The Stars are a club with a strong pitching staff that has the luxury of being supported by consistent defensive play. They also have earned a reputation of having strong bats, because of their ability to rally from huge deficits.
The head coach and players alike tell News 11 Sports that part of their team mentality is to “never give up”.
This will be the first time this group will compete at this level.
