YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Police Department would like to alert parents about a man that may have tried to get students into his vehicle. Officers say four students walking to O.C. Johnson Elementary School were in the area of 12th Avenue and Arena Drive Wednesday at about 8 a.m., when they were approached by an unknown vehicle driven by a man.
The students felt that the man indicated for them to get into his vehicle. The students continued walking to school, where a short time later the school administration reported the incident to police.
Yuma Police Department Neighborhood School Resource Officers responded to O.C. Johnson and spoke with the students and patrolled the area during the day and once school was released.
The Yuma police Department would like to take this time to remind parents to speak with their children about staying safe while walking to and from school.
