YPD responds to armed robbery at gas station

YUMA, Ariz. – Christopher Michael Stewart is behind bars after the Yuma Police Department arrested him following an armed robbery.

YPD received a call from Giant convenience store, located at 2381 S. Avenue B, at approximately 3:11 a.m. Sunday. Police said Giant’s clerk reported a man demanded money while displaying a handgun. The clerk then gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the area on foot.

Stewart, 31, was located in the 2300 block of S. 22nd Drive where he ran from officers.  Stewart was found and arrested in the 2100 block of W. 24th St. and taken into custody. The money and a plastic BB gun were recovered. Stewart was booked into the Yuma County Jail.
