PHOENIX (AP) – Republican candidates Tom Forese and Doug Little have won the two open spots on the powerful Arizona Corporation Commission.
Forese and Little beat Democratic candidates Sandra Kennedy and Jim Holway in Tuesday night’s general election for two-year terms on the commission.
The two GOP candidates each won by more than 7 percent of the vote total.
The campaign attracted large amounts of spending from the utility and rooftop solar industries.
Forese is a two-term state lawmaker representing the Gilbert and Chandler area while Little is a political newcomer with a background in computer software.
The five-member commission is considered a separate branch of state government. It sets rates for regulated utilities such as water and power providers, handles corporate registrations and is responsible for ensuring safety of railroads and pipelines.
