PHOENIX (AP) – A Tuba City man accused of fatally assaulting his infant daughter and later injuring two people in a DUI-related car crash has been sentenced to nearly 17 years in federal prison.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Ken Jermaine Fowler was sentenced Monday to a combined 16 years and nine months for two separate incidents.
Fowler was convicted in April of involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 10-week-old daughter.
Prosecutors say evidence at trial showed the girl died from a massive brain injury while she was alone in his care.
In the other incident, prosecutors say Fowler pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury for driving drunk and crashing into another vehicle.
The other driver suffered two fractured ribs and a fractured pelvis. An 11-year-old female passenger also was injured.
