YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma police identified a man they believe to be behind the most recent Circle K armed robbery in Yuma.
Police say the robbery happened Tuesday morning at the Circle K on Avenue A near 21st street. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect’s car and an unobstructed image of his face. During a traffic stop Thursday, police arrested 22-year-old Juan Avila who they determined to be the suspect.
Officers say Avila entered the Circle K, armed with a black pump action shotgun which he then pointed at the store clerk and demanded money. YPD Spokesperson Joe Franklin said a shotgun was recovered in the back seat during Avila’s arrest.
Avila faces two felony charges including armed robbery with a deadly weapon. He is held on a $150,ooo cash only bond.
