Yuma, Ariz. – At Tuesday’s city council work session city administrator Greg Wilkinson announced that the reconstruction of the Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground will be fully covered by Travelers Insurance, including the cost of labor. The city has a $5,000 deductible. The city says they want to make the new park bigger, better and safer. Many local businesses have reached out to support the reconstruction of the park. The company 84 Lumber donated $10,000 at the work session to help make the park more inclusive.
The Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground was burned to the ground on December 28th, 2014 in what the Yuma Police Department has determined to be arson. The Yuma Chief of Police John Lekan says that they are continuing to investigate the case and will do so until leads stop coming in or they have exhausted every possible resource. If you have any information on the case call the Yuma Police Department or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
