YUMA, Ariz. – First year semi-pro soccer franchise Frontera United has given the Desert Southwest a glimpse of the culmination of the rich soccer talent from the area. With a lineup that mostly consists of local players, they have started the exhibition season well; with a 2-1-1 record.
That one blemish came in the hands of FC Tucson a week ago, when Frontera gave up a late scoring rally.
Tonight was an opportunity to get another crack at them; this time at Desert Sun Stadium, a place where they have yet to lose a game.
From the opening kick off, the visitors controlled much of the game tempo with their extended possession times and early scoring opportunities that would eventually put Frontera in a 3-0 hole in the first half.
But Frontera would show no signs of quitting, as they mustered a couple of second half goals; by Edgar Urbano and Arturo Valle off the penalty kick.
Even though the home team would pull back into the game, the early hole proved to be costly. Frontera falls to FC Tucson for a second time and loses their first home match of the season.
Frontera will look to rebound this Saturday night, as they host Banning USA at 7:30.
