Quechan wrestler seeks funds for competition in New Zealand

WINTERHAVEN, Calif. – San Pasqual High Senior, Cedric Lukee, is invited to compete in the annual “Down Under Sports” wrestling meet. A letter was sent to Lukee after he placed fourth in an Arizona state-wide match. He’ll now head out to New Zealand representing California with a group of wrestlers seeking international recognition. “I want to make an impact on my community and also my school. To do that I’m just asking everybody  to come out and help,” said Lukee.
Lukee’s been training for two years to get to this point. “Everyday he comes in he just gets better and better. It’s just non-stop,” said Angelo Derma, San Pasqual High Wrestling Coach.  Derma says this type of exposure encourages the rest of the community to support one another and strive to set bigger goals. “Any kind of positive influence is needed around here but to have someone go that far away, yeah, definitely,” said Derma.
Lukee has by June 1  to raise $5,000 for the trip. So far he’s got more than half that amount. If you could lend a helping hand donate  to  www.downundersports.com/make-payment. Type in his full name: Cedric Lukee, California for that state and your sponsorship payment amount to help send Lukee to new Zealand this Summer. Sponsors of “Down Under Sports” athletes are eligible to be entered into a drawing to win an all-inclusive trip for two to Australia & Hawaii and/or a 5-day cruise.
