HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Day 1 of PAC-12 Media Day formerly introduced this year’s version of the Arizona Wildcats to a variety of west coast media pundits.
Fifth-year Head Coach Rich Rodriguez, wide receiver Nate Phillips and defensive lineman Sani Fuimaono fielded questions for the annual media event. A notable headline for the Cats is the possible starting quarterback battle between Junior Anu Solomon and Sophomore Brandon Dawkins; but most media believe Rich Rod is using this as a smoke screen to motivate Solomon, who led Arizona to the PAC-12 South title two seasons ago.
The biggest question for the U of A is on the other side of the football, as their entire defensive coaching staff was replaced in the off-season; complete with a new playing scheme. The Cats will also have deep shoes to fill in replacing defensive standouts Scooby Wright and Will Parks.
The pre-season conference media poll has Arizona finishing in 4th in the South division.
