New details in case involving La Mesa Murders defendant

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma County Superior Court Judge Maria Elena Cruz set a new status hearing and appointed a new attorney for the man charged in connection with the 2005 La Mesa Street murders. Preston Alton Strong is serving two life terms with no chance for parole for the the murder of Yuma physician. In 2014 he was charged with six counts of first degree murder of a Yuma family.

The court will hear the defendant’s motion to reconsider the court’s denial of a motion to remand in a new status hearing for September 21. They will also hear Strong’s notice of potential conflict of interest with someone involved in his case. Attorney Raymond Hannah was appointed to the case. He will defend Strong alongside William Fox.
