Man struck by driver sent to Yuma hospital with life threatening injuries

YUMA, Ariz. – A man was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center Wednesday night after he was struck by a driver. The Yuma Police Department said patrol units responded to 24th Street and Maple Avenue Wednesday at about 7:16 p.m., in relation to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Police say 51-year-old Agustin Mendoza was struck in the west bound traffic lane. Traffic in the area was shut down for several hours.

Officers don’t believe alcohol played a factor in the collision.
