Man confesses to murdering missing Yucca woman and burying her in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Marshalls arrested 50 year old James David Collins in Yuma on Tuesday. He was turned over to the Yuma County Sheriff for allegedly killing 54 year old Cynthia Marie Horn, who was from Yucca, AZ and missing since October 3rd, 2014. Deputies say Collins confessed to killing Horn in Yucca then transporting her body to Yuma and burying it on family owned land. Deputies then use this information and began searching an area along County 16th Street and Avenue 2 1/2 E in Yuma. There they found human remains an autopsy is currently being done and the identity of the body can not be confirmed till the autopsy is complete, deputies do say it seems all signs point to the body being Cynthia Horn.

Before being caught Collins was in Mexico and arrested for a weapons violation. Investigators also discovered while he was in Mexico he had Horn’s Black Jeep Wrangler. He was released by Mexican authorities as the U.S. Marshall’s issued a felony warrant for his arrest for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements in Lake Havasu City.

Collins is being held in Yuma on $100,000 bond and will be appearing in court on June 5th at 1 p.m.
