PHOENIX (AP) – A 33-year-old Phoenix man is accused of hit-and-run and aggravated driving while under the influence in the death of a pedestrian struck while crossing a street.
Phoenix police said Otellos Odelro Gillum was arrested early Sunday morning shortly after 27-year-old Reynaldo Gutierrrez was struck while crossing Indian School Road in west Phoenix.
According to police, Gillum was arrested about five miles away after police spotted a damaged and smoking vehicle that matched a description for a vehicle involved in the accident.
Gillum remained jailed Monday. He didn’t have an attorney when he appeared before a judge.
