IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif.-
With excessive heat warnings for the next few days, Imperial Irrigation District is asking it’s customers to conserve their electricity. If they don’t IID might have to implement rolling brown outs or black outs.
“We’re really asking customers to be careful and try to use the least amount of energy as they can.” said Marion Champion a spokesperson for IID.
IID is running on reserved power after the summer storm last week that destroyed over a hundred power lines and left 7,000 people with out power. They are asking their customers to reduce their energy use between 1 P.M. and 7 P.M.
“It’s very easy to lower that energy usage,” said Champion. “Do things like don’t do laundry, don’t wash the dishes, and keep your thermostat set at 78 degrees or higher.”
If power outages do occur within the next few days, Champion says they will be brief and will not occur in hospitals.
