YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Police Department is hosting a fundraiser for Officer Heather Redden after she underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor.
The “Helping Heather” fundraiser is Saturday, July 30 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post #19.
Activities and food will be available and attendees can enter raffles for a chance to win weekend getaways and sporting event tickets. There will also be a live auction and live entertainment by The White Horse Band and Grant Nicewander.
“The community can come on down, have a tri-tip dinner, pay $10 or they can make a donation online on the Facebook page,” states post manager, Jason Kodz, “If they do come to the event they will be more than welcome here.”
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward Redden’s medical expenses. The Yuma community has already shown their support even before the event.
“Enormous from the community,” shares police assistant, Kaweah Worthen, “We’ve had a lot of people reach out.”
Redden will be present at the event alongside her friends and family. She is recovering well and cannot wait to get back to the station.
“She is in good spirits and can’t wait to come back to work,” states Worthen.
