YUMA, Ariz. – Progress. This is the predominate theme for the Arizona Strikers semi-professional women’s soccer franchise that’s playing out it’s first season under the lights in Yuma.
Only three games into the season, despite not winning any of them, the Strikers have scored three goals in that span of time. What’s remarkable is that this is the total number of goals they had all of last season while the franchise was still in Sedona.
Thursday night’s home game for the Strikers would also prove to be challenging, as they would take on the Colorado Pride.
Early on, the Strikers would show flashes of defensive brilliance, as the defense made some critical stops early. The offense just never got clicking, as the Pride possessed the ball most of the contest and generated most of the game’s tempo.
After the Strikers gave up an early header goal off a corner kick, they would take another tough loss in a 12-0 final.
Arizona will get ten days off to lick it’s wounds before the coming rematch with the Seattle Sounders on June 7th at Desert Sun Stadium.
