YUMA, Ariz. – Just after 9 a.m. on Friday Morning, one person was killed in a car crash involving three vehicles by 8th street and Vaughn Avenue. A car, that was driven by two suspects involved in a hit and run accident moments before the fatal crash, ran through a stop sign and collided with a White Rav 4 then continued to crash into a Sheriff’s Vehicle. The driver of the Rav 4 died at the scene according to YCSO. One of the suspects was injured and taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center and YCSO says he will be taken into custody after being released from the hospital. The other suspect was arrested according to YCSO. Their charges are no yet known.
The incident was following a minor hit and run accident. The suspects ran into Salvador Delgado’s car, we spoke to Delgado after the fatal crash. He says they pulled over to assess the damage and told him not to call the police then they began to take off. Delgado says they didn’t have any license plates on their car, he began to follow them and called 911. He says he was on the phone with dispatch giving them the suspects location. After he was pursuing them at what he describes as a high rate of speed, he says he lost them and then moments later is when the fatal crash occurred. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
