YUMA, Ariz. – Kofa girls soccer has triumphed through much adversity this season. An almost last minute coaching change before the first game and having a team that consists mainly of underclassmen. But first year coach Philip Coverson put together nothing but wins going into the first round of the AIA Division II Playoffs.
The eighth seeded Lady Kings would get their toughest test of the year, as they hosted Salpointe Catholic out of Tucson. Even though the Lancers struck first, the Lady Kings would respond late in the first half with a penalty kick goal to tie the game at 1-1. The score would hold through much of the second half, as both teams would go back and forth with their respective pressure schemes.
In the end, the Lancers would make the game winning goal; giving Kofa it’s first loss of the year and ending their season.
