YUMA, Ariz. – October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and Arizona Western College (AWC) Violence Intervention and Prevention Program along with AWC Mentors of Violence Prevention (MVP) Club are teaming up to support survivors in the community.
Some of the activities scheduled throughout the month are: “Spend An Hour In Their Shoes” presentation from Amberly’s Place for several classes and groups on campus. Purple ribbons and lights will also adorn campus to bring awareness and support to students and staff. A display will also be put up in remembrance of the 109 deaths in Arizona last year due to domestic violence.
Amberly’s Place is accepting donations to help victims of domestic violence in their time of need.

WHERE: AWC Main Campus in Campus Life Cottage #1 (3C Building), library (LR Building), AWC San Luis Campus, and Somerton Campus.
WHAT: Bottled water, batteries (AA, AAA, 9V), paper plates, plastic eating utensils, napkins, disposable cups, toilet tissue, feminine hygiene products, laundry soap, dish soap, tissue boxes, full size lotion, nail polish, and baby wipes.
