Closing arguments in the Green murder trial

EL CENTRO, Calif. – Closing arguments will be given this week in the trial of Neil Green, accused of murdering his father with a baseball bat.

Authorities say the alleged murder happened after an argument between Green and his father Melvin Green six years ago in the house they shared on Moiola Avenue in El Centro.

Neil Green was 29 years old at the time he allegedly attacked his 62-year-old father.

He and a sister had lived with their father, Melvin Green, since their parents divorced when they were still children. The sister had moved away but stayed in touch with her father. Neil Green says his father was drunk and attacked him first and that he hit his father in self-defense.

In trial today, Neil Green testified that his father, Melvin, had been his best friend.
