PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) – A man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter and DUI in a 2013 crash in Prescott Valley.
Yavapai County prosecutors say 52-year-old Kris McClain was sentenced Tuesday. A jury last month found McClain guilty on one count of manslaughter, four counts of aggravated assault, six counts of aggravated driving under the influence and one count of criminal damage plus several aggravating factors.
Prosecutors say McClain was driving at a high rate of speed and ran into the back of another vehicle on Jan. 22, 2013.
They say 19-year-old Hayley Stevens was killed. Her mother and 18-month-old nephew were injured.
Prosecutors say McClain was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash and was on probation after three prior DUI convictions.
