Arizona law on revenge porn remains on hold as sides talk

PHOENIX (AP) – Lawyers for Arizona and the American Civil Liberties Union are asking a federal judge to let them continue trying to settle a legal dispute over a 2014 law targeting so-called revenge porn.

But if they can’t settle the case or get a special session of the Legislature to change the law, they said Monday they’ll request hearings on a request to block the law.

The law makes it a crime for jilted lovers to post nude photos of their former partners online.

The ACLU challenged the 2014 law as unconstitutional, and the sides agreed to put it on hold while the Legislature crafted a new law this year.

That effort fell short, so the lawyers are trying to craft a deal to avoid further court fights.
