Yuma, Ariz. – Arizona reached a milestone in 2014 for its highest number of tissue donors ever! Last year saw 1224 tissue donors, a 4.3% increase from 2011 which was the previous highest year. The Donors Network of Arizona says these donations will help tens of thousands of people across the country.
The Yuma Regional Medical Center says they had more tissue donations than any other hospital in the state in 2013. They say that the medical field depends on donors as there is no technology that can work as well as organs and tissue from the human body.
Residents we spoke to were happy to be donors and feel it is important to give back and potentially save someone’s life. You can sign up as a registered organ, cornea and tissue donor when you renew your driver’s license or ID or sign up online at www.donatelifeaz.org.
