EL CENTRO, Calif. – The man convicted of first-degree murder, for the death of a high school football player, sat in court to hear his sentence.
The Judge Raymond Cota sentenced Martin Gabriel Andrade to 50 years to life in prison with the possibility of parole at the Imperial County Superior Courthouse, Thursday afternoon.
A jury found the 21-year-old guilty of murder in early May after his trial was heard for several weeks.
Andrade killed Martin Alberto Garza, 17, by stabbing him during a fight at a house party in El Centro back in January 2013.
The El Centro Police Department (ECPD) arrested Andrade at his home in Heber just days after the murder.
