SAN LUIS, Ariz. – For more than two seasons, the San Luis Sidewinders boys basketball team has been kept out of the win column. The snakes haven’t won a game since January 9th, 2013!
As they began their season days before the Thanksgiving holiday, San Luis was looking to end that long drought and get off on the right foot to start of the regular season. They would have their chance, as they hosted the Antelope Rams.
From start to finish, the game would go back and forth; as both teams were separated by a point after the first and second periods. But in the end, the Sidewinders would find a way to put enough points on the board to put it out of the Rams reach; getting the 46 to 42 win.
Sidewinders star Gabriel Ponce put down a game high 18 points and 11 rebounds, helping his team relinquish a nearly three year winless drought.
