8th Annual Mardi Gras

EL CENTRO, Calif. – The city of El Centro is getting ready for the 8th Annual Mardi Gras parade. This year their float is bigger and better than ever according to organizers. The queen of the parade herself wants to make sure no one misses the fun Saturday night in downtown.

“If you’ve never been to Mardi Gras you need to come out it’s a lot of fun, not only for the parade but there’s a lot of vendors out there and there’s thousands of people,” said Mardi Gras Queen Terri Rogers.

People can also grab a bite from street vendors starting at 4 p.m., then at 6 p.m. parade floats will take over the streets and beads will start flying giving locals a taste New Orleans’ Bourbon St. right in the valley.

“There’s 37 or 38 entries, beads are thrown, the music is loud and it’s just a really great time,” said Rogers.
